West Woodburn First School is a very small, rural school on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. Set in the heart of West Woodburn village in the beautiful Rede valley, the school serves the villages of West Woodburn, East Woodburn, Ridsdale, and a number of outlying properties. We have a splendid Victorian building with a conservatory extension and excellent outdoor facilities which include a large field, a school garden, a wild garden and a sheltered outdoor classroom. Staff and governors work together to provide an exciting curriculum in an enabling and caring environment where children enjoy learning. Due to the small size of our school, we get to know our families really well, working together to provide what is best for each child.
Our recent OFSTED inspection rated our school as 'GOOD'
Parents say that their children ‘rush’ to get to school each morning because they are happy, well looked after and enjoy all that the school has to offer ‘academically and socially’.
Pupils agree enthusiastically, saying that they feel safe because they are with ‘people you know you can trust’.
According to pupils, ‘everyone is friendly’ and there is no bullying. Pupils and their parents would recommend the school to others without hesitation.
